Insect brings carbon nanotube composites to the masses!

Insect Nanotech for the Masses

For 2009 we're happy to announce an engineering breakthrough that allows us to bring carbon nanotechnology to our entire line at an affordable price. For starters we've switched completely to prepreg nanotech composites instead of traditional wet layup. The advantages here are manifold. The resin is pre-impregnated into the carbon and glass fibers at a precisely controlled volume resulting in a stronger, stiffer and lighter laminate as the resin-to-fiber ratio is exact.

But we didn't stop there. We're prepregging our unidirectional carbon fiber and triaxial fiberglass with weapons-grade carbon nanotube epoxy resin which gives us far higher tensile and compressive strength than regular epoxy prepreg resins. But we're not done yet! These prepregged materials are then pre-tensioned and cured under extremely high pressure and heat resulting in incredibly strong and light "skins" with an explosive flex pattern.

Last, but not least, these skins are bonded to the core material, pressed and molded to shape, then CNC-machined to a perfectly accurate finished deck. All of this is done in-house to maintain strict control of our production processes. And perhaps best of all... this new construction process is many times faster than the old methods and that means the days of long wait times are officially over.

We now offer two distinct carbon nano lines: the Mainline with a hybrid of carbon fiber and fiberglass on wood cores, and the Ultralight Competition line of 100% carbon fiber on honeycomb cores.
